What we do and don't accept

Nillumbik Shire Council's Recycling Centre accepts household quantities of a range of different items for reuse, recycling or disposal.

No trucks of any size (including light duty) or commercial quantities are accepted. The largest load accepted is a high-sided 8x6 trailer.

We accept

  • Batteries (including car batteries)
  • Broken furniture
  • CDs, DVDs, cassettes and VHS tapes
  • E-waste (anything with a plug, cord or battery)
  • Fridges, freezers and air conditioners
  • Garden materials and green waste (use your green waste voucher)
  • Hard waste
  • Light globes
  • Mattresses
  • Motor oil (maximum 20 litres)
  • Paper and cardboard (up to a car boot load)
  • Plaster
  • Polystyrene, foam and bean bag beans
  • Processed wood eg treated pine posts/sleepers, fence paling, untreated timber
  • Scrap metal
  • Tyres
  • X-rays
