All cats and dogs in Nillumbik over three months of age must be registered. Your pet registration covers a one year period and must be renewed each year.
Pet registrations are different to animal permits. As well as registering your dog or cat, you may also require a permit if you want to keep more than two cats or more than two dogs.
If you have a dog or cat that is three months of age or older, it must be registered with council.
Pay for your dog or cat registration renewal online, in person or by mail.
Change the registration details for your cat or dog - including informing us about a change of address, applying for a fee reduction, or letting us know that your pet has passed away.
Our registration tags are designed to last a lifetime, so you won’t receive a new one each year. If you’ve lost or damaged your tag or can’t read the numbers clearly, you can request a replacement.
You can keep other animals in Nillumbik without a registration, however you may require a permit depending on the type and number of animals, and the size of your property. Find out more here.
