Kate McKay

Councillor Kate McKay was elected to Swipers Gully Ward in 2024.

Cr McKay has worked as a Registered Nurse since 2007, working more recently in medical emergency teams, helping guide families through incredibly challenging times. She also supports and advocates for colleagues as a union representative.

A self-declared ‘people person’, Cr McKay is looking forward to playing a more active role in the community on Council ensuring both the residents and their environment can thrive. Her priorities include balancing housing targets with neighbourhood character, prioritising the environment and biodiversity, and improving access to active and green transport options.

Cr McKay moved to Nillumbik in 2021 with her husband and children, falling in love with the community and environment around Eltham immediately. She’s been involved in the local kinder, school, sports clubs and community groups, and loves camping with her family and spending time in the garden, and in Nillumbik’s green spaces and villages.
