Hurstbridge Community Hub

The Community Lounge is free for anyone to use during business hours (9am – 5pm weekdays) and does not require a booking. Situated at the entrance of the building, the Community Lounge is a comfortable sunny space with 180 degree views onto the courtyard and community garden. Complimentary tea and coffee is available in the community kitchen, and there is a low-cost coffee machine available to use in the corridor.

The Courtyard is also free for anyone to use during business hours without a booking. The courtyard is a sunny space fully enclosed by a curved stone wall, and contains two large picnic tables, concrete seating around the perimeter and a free BBQ.

Free co-working spaces are available throughout the Hub during business hours (9am – 5pm weekdays) and do not require bookings. USB charge stations, cushioned seating and tables are available throughout the sunny corridors of the Hub, with free wifi access throughout the building. Meeting rooms are also available to use as co-working space when not reserved for a private booking.

The Hurstbridge Children’s Centre is co-located at the Hub and is managed by non-profit organisation Early Childhood Management Services (ECMS). The Hurstbridge Children’s Centre offers high quality and inclusive long day care and integrated four-year-old kindergarten services for children aged three months to five years.

The Hurstbridge Community Hub is home to a curated collection of books and resources managed by Yarra Plenty Regional Library (YPRL).

At the Hub, you can return your YPRL library items, collect your holds, browse and borrow. Library holds are delivered daily, with the collection updated weekly.

The Hurstbridge Maternal and Child Health centre is located at the eastern end of the building. The maternal and child health (MCH) service is staffed by MCH nurses who provide support for families with young children in Nillumbik. All nurses have qualifications in general nursing, midwifery and maternal and child health.

The community pantry at the Hub is managed by Diamond Valley Community Services and The Vine Baptist Church. It is located near the entrance to the Hurstbridge Basketball Stadium at the rear of the Hub. A community pantry is a cupboard full of non-perishable food, located in an accessible space for community members who are experiencing food insecurity. The Community Pantry Network has a “Give what you can, take what you need” philosophy, and donations of healthy, nutritious non-perishable food items are always welcome.

The Hurstbridge Hub is also home to the Food is Free project. The Hurstbridge Food is Free shelving is situated under the verandah outside the entrance to the Hub. The Food is Free project is a worldwide movement dedicated to increasing food security and community cohesion through access to nutritious, healthy food. Anyone in the community can take from the Hurstbridge Food is Free table, and you don’t need to contribute anything or leave items in its place.
