Positive Ageing at Nillumbik Shire Council are running a free housing forum for seniors.

Whether you want to learn about ageing in place, housing choices or support available to you now and in the future, come along to the Seniors Housing Forum.

A range of speakers will cover topics such as:

  • Nillumbik’s Housing Strategy – recent community consultation and future directions
  • Housing for the Aged Action Group
  • Services Australia – finances, government benefits and programs, and housing options as you age
  • Saving money and the environment by making your home more sustainable and environmentally friendly – accessible and low maintenance gardening
  • Seniors Rights Victoria – money, ageing and family considerations when moving in with family or adult children moving in with you, intergenerational living and the importance of a Power of Attorney
  • Changes to State Government legislation around ‘small second dwellings’ (granny flats) and how this may translate in Nillumbik

Seniors Housing Forum keynote speaker will be Bec Wilson from Epic Retirement. Bec is a regular columnist in the ‘money’ section of The Age and Sydney Morning Herald, as well as an author and podcaster.

Information stalls and staff from Council’s Aged Care Navigation and Advocacy area, Services Australia, Seniors Rights Victoria, Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG) and others will be on-site.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

This is a free event, however registration is essential.
