Background

The Eltham Lower Park area has undergone many changes and has been developed to provide residents and visitors with a range of passive and active public open spaces along with various sport and recreation opportunities.

The latest upgrade to Eltham Lower Park aims to revitalise a popular recreational space for the community and activate the area for all user groups.

Council has received a $2 million commitment by the Federal Member for Jagajaga Kate Thwaites MP through the Federal Government’s Investing in Our Communities Program.

Following community consultation last year on a concept design, plans have been revised to include:

  • dog park, with snake-proof fencing
  • equestrian area
  • accessible car parking, path connection and seating
  • dog water and waste station
  • seating and shelter in dedicated viewing area
  • restoration of equestrian cross-country elements
  • revegetation works
  • respectful restoration of horse yards and signage highlighting the historical significance.
