Nillumbik is home to over 60 outdoor public play spaces, and Council is committed to enhancing the lives of children and their families by improving these spaces.
We understand the importance of quality outdoor play spaces, which provide opportunities for children to engage with the natural environment through cognitive, creative, physical and social types of play.
In addition to minor works occurring at various locations, several sites were identified as priorities for 2023/2024 renewal works based on age, condition audits and levels of use by the community - this included Cooinda Reserve in Eltham, Glen Park Road Reserve in Eltham North, and Rodder Reserve in Eltham.
The new nature-inspired play space incorporates logs and rocks to encourage informal play, with a particular emphasis on elements that promote balance.
The existing bee rocker has been retained.
Monkey bars and a slide provide physical and active play activities.
Works were completed on schedule in early August 2024.
