A day of Total Fire Ban has been declared for Saturday 22 February. The Fire Danger Rating is Extreme. The Recycling Centre in Plenty will be closed all day due to the Total Fire Ban. Edendale Farm will close to the public at 2.30pm due to the heat forecast.

The results of the 2024 Annual Community Survey have been released with Council’s overall performance remaining consistent at a ‘good’ level over the past 12 months.
Independent research company Metropolis Research undertook the survey in February this year, measuring community satisfaction with a range of Council services, activities and facilities. The company conducted interviews with 501 respondents throughout the Shire.
Overall, community satisfaction with Council’s performance was rated at 6.90 out of 10, an increase of 0.3 per cent on the 6.88-out-of-10 result in 2023. This rating is similar to the average for all Melbourne metropolitan councils, including interface and northern councils.
The top five important issues in Nillumbik identified by survey respondents were:
Satisfaction with key aspects of council performance, including governance and leadership, customer service, planning services, animal management and fire prevention works all increased in the past 12 months.
Services where respondents rated satisfaction the highest included local libraries, sports ovals, weekly and fortnightly waste collections, education and learning and services for children aged 0 to 5 years. Read the complete results of the 2024 Annual Community Survey.
