Are you keen to try watercolour painting, learn about edible weeds or make your own clay polymer earrings? You can do all this and more during Neighbourhood House Week.
Neighbourhood House Week is an annual event that sees neighbourhood houses around Australia invite the community to try a range of free and low-cost activities close to home. This year’s event will be held during the week of 13-19 May. Sessions in the Shire have been organised by Living & Learning Nillumbik.
There are more than 15 activities on offer, including a one-off ‘fence weaving’, where participants can decorate the fence outside Diamond Creek Living & Learning and bring a splash of colour to Cowin Street.
Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan said Neighbourhood House Week provides community connection and helps residents explore their creativity.
“This year’s theme is ‘Stronger Together’, which is a fitting message for the unifying service provided by neighbourhood houses,” Cr Ramcharan said.
“There are activities for a range of ages, abilities and interests across different locations, providing ways for people to connect,” he said.
Some of the FREE workshops and activities on offer include:
Registration is needed for most of the sessions. Except for a small cost for the polymer clay earrings session, all activities are free. To view the full list of activities and book into a session, visit livinglearningnillumbik.vic.gov.au/neighbourhood-house-week
