We are seeking expressions of interest from residents who would like to join our Economic and Development Advisory Committee (EDAC).

The Advisory Committee will have 12 positions and include representation from two Councillors, one representative from Eltham Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Diamond Creek Traders Association, Hurstbridge Traders Association, Nillumbik Tourism and Business Association.

The remaining positions are one youth representative, one Agricultural representative from the community and six general business and industry representatives.

The EDAC helps Council consult with key stakeholders, seek specialist advice and encourage community participation and feedback on initiatives, policies and strategies relating to the business community.

Business representatives are invited to apply for the 2024-2026 term.

Mayor Ben Ramcharan thanked the members of the current committee for their contributions during this period which has provided invaluable information to Council in helping our business community, supporting our economy to enable our residents to access jobs close to home.

“The next term of the EDAC will continue to assist Council in representing the views and needs of businesses in Nillumbik.

“If you are interested in taking an active role in communicating the views of business and organisations to Council I encourage you to apply and I look forward to seeing all that you achieve.”

The focus areas for the EDAC are related to:

  • Continued support of the implementation of the Nillumbik Economic Development Strategy 2020 -2030 and provide recommendations to deliver on the strategic actions.
  • Provide feedback and advice to Council on Council strategies, plans, policies and related documents specifically affecting the business community
