Responsible pet ownership impacts everyone, whether or not you have a pet yourself. The way we manage domestic animals plays a key role in maintaining a safe, harmonious, and healthy community.
Council is currently renewing its Domestic Animal Management Plan – or DAMP – which will guide how we support and manage domestic animal services in the Shire over the next four years.
Last year more than 700 residents shared their thoughts on cats and dogs in the Shire. The data captured during this consultation has helped shape the draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2025–2029, which is now open for review and community feedback.
Some of the topics covered in the Plan include:
Mayor John Dumaresq thanked community members for helping to shape the draft plan.
“Your feedback has been invaluable in informing this plan,” Cr Dumaresq said.
“Now we want to know, have we captured what matters most to you? We invite all community members to review the draft and let us know what you think .”
Nillumbik Community Safety officers will be available to answer questions relating to the Draft Domestic Animal Management Plan 2025–2029 at two pop-up information sessions:
Visit participate.nillumbik.vic.gov.au/DAMP-2025 to read the draft and provide your feedback until 11.59pm, Friday 4 April.
