A Total Fire Ban has been declared for Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 February. The Fire Danger Rating is Extreme. The Recycling Centre and Reuse Shop in Plenty will be closed due to the Total Fire Ban.

Twelve community members have been appointed to a Community Reference Group (CRG) to inform key matters in drafting Nillumbik’s Housing Strategy.
The CRG will play a pivotal role in providing a community lens to the draft Housing Strategy 2024 that will replace the 2001 Housing Strategy.
The Housing Strategy will:
The CRG is a diverse group from different parts of the Shire and will meet to deliberate on matters such as changing household composition, demographic changes and the impacts of cost of living, all of which influence people’s housing needs.
Mayor Cr Ben Ramcharan said “The community reference group will provide important input in developing the Housing Strategy.
“The group have been selected based on their diverse lived experience and housing needs within Nillumbik and will be asked to consider the wider community’s needs as part of their deliberations.
“I look forward to the group’s input moving forward and hearing their views for the future of housing needs in Nillumbik.”
The Draft Housing Strategy will be made available for feedback to the broader community in early 2024.
