Children’s Week fun for the whole family

Join us for a packed calendar of free events to celebrate Children’s Week from 19-27 October. 

This year’s festivities include a range of engaging activities for children and families alike including the popular free Family Fun Day at the Diamond Valley Railway.

Children’s Week is a national annual event recognising the rights of children and celebrating their talents, skills, achievements. The theme this year is ‘Children have the right to a clean and safe environment’.

The week will kick off with our Children’s Mini Food Fair at Edendale Community Environment Farm on Sunday 20 October, 10am-2pm. The day will focus on health and sustainable food options and include activities, workshops, food vendors and farm tours.

The Family Fun Day at Diamond Valley Railway is on Wednesday 23 October, 10am-2pm at Eltham Lower Park. Bring a picnic and enjoy free train rides, Maternal and Child Health pram walks, a pop-up playground, art and craft, mini golf and more.

Throughout the week there will also be Edendale Farm tours, meet-the-animal sessions, storytime sessions at our local libraries, Zumba and yoga sessions at Nillumbik Leisure Centres, art for kinder children at Eltham Living & Learning Hub, and more.

Children's Week in the Shire is presented by Nillumbik Shire Council in partnership with the Victorian Government.
