Council is offering grants of up to $1000 to support community groups, schools, and not-for profit organisations to run events or activities to celebrate International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD).
IDPwD is a United Nations observed day held on 3 December each year to recognise the contributions and achievements of people with disabilities.
Grant applications are now open to support events and activities held on 3 December, or anytime between November 2024 and January 2025.
Nillumbik Mayor Ben Ramcharan said these events and activities are an opportunity to encourage inclusivity, while celebrating our diversity.
“I encourage our local groups to participate as part of this annual celebration.”
Previous initiatives have included live music and theatre performances, inclusive sporting activities, sensory friendly events, arts and social activities. Last year, the Veggie Empire ran tours of their Greensborough farm.
Grant applications close 25 August 2024. For more information and to apply visit the grants page on our website.
