Community Bus Driver

Council's Community Transport Services assist eligible Nillumbik residents to access shops, services, social activities, medical and health-related services. The Community Transport Service is for eligible residents of Nillumbik who have been assessed and referred by My Aged Care.

One-on-one transport driver

One-on-one transport provides transport to assist eligible Nillumbik residents to access their community. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to pick up the passengers at their residence and drive them to their location. Volunteers are reimbursed for the kilometres travelled whilst transporting passengers. If you enjoy giving back to your community, can spare a few hours every week or two and would like to be involved, please get in touch.

Every time you volunteer gets you one step closer to an official parkrun milestone, which rewards those who have volunteered 10 (for those under 18), 25, 50, 100, 250 or 500 times. WWCC are required to volunteer at Junior Parkrun.

Austin Health

Volunteers are critical to the delivery of exceptional care and service to Austin Health patients, carers, families, staff and community. 

Volunteers work in roles that enhance the patient experience at all of our sites including Austin Hospital, Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital, Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre, the Olivia Newton-John Cancer, Wellness and Research Centre, and our Op Shops in Heidelberg and Diamond Creek.

We will be vetting, preparing and supporting people to serve as ‘community-based companions’ in our latest kindness-informed/citizen-led health initiative. Placement opportunities to serve people impacted by loneliness (particularly existential loneliness) social isolation, complex health issues (including terminal illness), and bereavement will be provided by our referral partners from in healthcare, aged care and charitable funeral service. Companions will be asked to go through an application/interview process; provide two referees; pass a Police Check; attend an induction day; participate in regularly scheduled online reflective practice sessions; and, make time to visit one or more community members in one-on-one sessions, or as part of a 3 to 5 person team.

St Vincent's Care Services

St Vincent's Cares Services is a Catholic, not-for-profit provider of aged care and retirement services with a holistic approach to our care community. Our volunteers allow us to provide additional programs, projects, and increased social interaction and are valued members of our care community.

St Vincent's Care Services Eltham is looking to grow its volunteer base to compliment the already provided services. Our volunteers participate in varied roles from assisting within the Leisure and Lifestyle program, running weekly bingo, to driving the bus, administrative duties or being a companion to particular residents.

No experience is necessary to be a volunteer, just willingness to dedicate a small amount of your time weekly or twice weekly. Volunteer roles can be designed to best suit you and the needs of our residents.

All volunteers will have both referee and national criminal record checks before commencing their placement.

Namely Secretary, Membership (Enrolment) Officer, Party Hire Officer, Marketing Communications Officer and OH&S Officer. We have a high-level outline of the roles and associated responsibilities which can be emailed to you. Ideally, we'd love some people who have a passion for family services.
