Seniors Exercise Equipment – Andrew Pocket Park

Nillumbik Shire Council has partnered with the National Ageing Research Institute (NARI) to create age-friendly outdoor spaces specifically designed for older people to use and enjoy.

The seniors exercise equipment is a great initiative to get older adults exercising in the fresh air.

The park features a range of outdoor equipment designed for older people to help improve:

balance
strength
functional movement
joint range of motion
mobility.

'Come and Try' sessions

'Come & Try' sessions are held twice a week, on Wednesday and Friday from 9:30am - 10:30am.

These sessions are for the general public to drop in and ‘come and try’ the equipment and be guided by trained volunteers.

Once you are confidant in using the equipment, these sessions also provide an opportunity to do your workout with others and socialise with peers.

Sessions will not run on public holidays or in extremely wet, windy or hot weather.

Christmas/New Year 2024-25

'Come and Try' sessions will not run from 23 December 2024 until 21 January 2025. Sessions will recommence on Wednesday 22 January 2025.

Due to volunteer training there will be no 'Come and Try' session on Wednesday 29 January.

U3A Nillumbik - Seniors Exercise Equipment 'Boot Camp'

Nillumbik U3A is providing a short course to introduce, guide and support members on how to use this park for optimum benefit and risk-free enjoyment.

The class size will be limited to eight people with two trainers. To get the most benefit from the course, attendance at all of the five classes is preferable.

No matter your level of fitness, this program can be adapted to people of all abilities. There are also progressions available when members are ready for the next stage.

When: 9.30am to 10.30am on Mondays - February 24; March 3, 17, 24, 31 (no class on 10 March public holiday).

To be eligible for this program you must be a member of U3A Nillumbik.
