Sporting Achievement Grants

Due to overwhelming demand, applications are now closed, and will reopen in January 2025.

The purpose of the Sporting Achievement Grant is to provide financial support to young athletes aged 25 or under, who are residents of Nillumbik Shire or affiliated with a team or club in Nillumbik. This grant is designed to help cover costs associated with participating in state, national or international sporting competitions. By offering this support, the grant aims to alleviate financial burdens and encourage youth participation and excellence in sport.

What can be funded?

  • Costs associated with sports events and tournaments
  • Equipment
  • Travel costs including accommodation. 

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for a Sporting Achievement Grant, applicants must:

  • Be a resident of Nillumbik Shire/and or affiliated with a team/club in Nillumbik
  • Be under 25
  • Be selected to compete in a state, national or international sporting competition, within a recognised peak body/association
  • Not be competing on a professional basis
  • Not have received a Sporting Achievement Grant in the last 12 months 
  • Attach a copy of their selection letter from the appropriate sporting organisation, peak body or government body
  • Be available to attend a Council meeting for presentation of the grant.
