Montsalvat is an arts centre and artist community spanning almost ninety years of history in Eltham, Victoria. Established in 1934 it has seen thousands of artists, musicians, philosophers, poets and makers reside in or visit its stunning creative environment. Montsalvat is at once visionary and couched in European historical art and architectural traditions; with over 34 buildings on a 12 acre site. Today it features three galleries, nineteen studios, a ceramic centre, concert spaces and a gallery shop and restaurant.

Montsalvat's business model has evolved over time, shifting from a primarily volunteer workforce in a private setting to a paid workforce supported by volunteers and a board to manage what has become a distinctive, highly valued arts precinct in the green wedge Shire of Nillumbik in outer Melbourne. Situated at the foot of the Yarra Valley, Montsalvat receives around 50,000 visitors per year from across Australia and the world (with the exception of Covid-19 lockdowns). Its offerings include exhibitions, studio programs, ceramic education and artistic opportunities, artist residences, concert series, film and theatre, festivals, gallery shop, life celebrations and hospitality for a broad audience.
