Accept, withdraw or cancel a preschool offer

If your child has been allocated a place at a preschool, you will receive a letter of offer via email.

Options for responding to a preschool offer

Accept the offer

You can accept a preschool offer by:

  • Clicking on the "Offer Response" link within the offer email and select the “accept offer” option.

After you have accepted the offer, the preschool's Enrolment Officer will contact you with their Enrolment form, deposit request (if applicable) and timetable information. At this time, you can nominate the group or session you would like your child to attend (where there is more than one session).

You will also need to provide evidence of your child's immunisation status to comply with the No Jab, No Play legislation.

Accept but wait

If you have not been offered your first preference of preschool, you can continue to wait for a higher preference preschool offer while not giving up the first-round offer, by:

  • Clicking on the “Offer response” link within the offer email and then selecting the “accept but wait for a higher preference" option.

If a place at your first preference preschool does not become available, your child's place will be accepted at their second/third preference preschool. Alternatively, you have the option to decline this place and remain on a waitlist for your first preference.

After the place has been accepted, the preschool's Enrolment Officer will contact you with their Enrolment form, deposit request (if applicable) and timetable information. At this time, you can nominate the group or session you would like your child to attend (where there is more than one session).

You will also need to provide evidence of your child's immunisation status to comply with the No Jab, No Play legislation

Decline

If you do not wish to accept your preschool offer (for example if you have been offered a position in a private preschool, or in a neighbouring Council), you can decline the offer by:

  • Clicking on the "offer response" link within the offer email and select the “decline offer” option.

To reinstate a registration after an offer has been declined, please contact the Preschool Registrations Team on 9433 3161 or at preschool@nillumbik.vic.gov.au

Withdraw and register for the following year

If you have identified that your child would benefit from commencing kindergarten a year later, you can withdraw your registration from the current allocation process and register to be included in the following year. You will not need to reapply, but your application will go through the same offer process again - accepted places will not be carried forward from the previous year.

You can withdraw your application by:

  • Clicking on the "offer response" link within your offer offer email and select the “withdraw and register for next year” option.

Withdrawing or cancelling after accepting an offer

If you have already accepted a preschool offer but your circumstances have since changed, you can withdraw or cancel your child’s preschool position.

Withdrawing a kindergarten registration after accepting a preschool place

If you have identified that your child would benefit from commencing preschool a year later, you can withdraw your enrolment and register to attend kindergarten the following year. This means your registration will go through the same offer process again - places will not be carried forward from the previous year.

Withdrawals can be made any time up until the day of commencement in the Three or Four-Year-Old Kindergarten program.

If you would like to withdraw your child’s enrolment after a preschool offer has been accepted, please contact the Preschool Registration Team on 9433 3161 or email preschool@nillumbik.vic.gov.au

Cancelling a kindergarten registration after accepting a preschool place

If your circumstances have changed and you wish to cancel your child’s enrolment after accepting a preschool offer, please contact the Preschool Registration Team on 9433 3161 or email preschool@nillumbik.vic.gov.au

At the time of cancellation, Council will seek information regarding the reasons for cancellation to inform planning and central registration service delivery and we appreciate your feedback.
