Register a new accommodation business

In Nillumbik, all personal care and body art businesses must be registered with Council and follow regulations to help minimise health risks.

Under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 you must register the place of business (premises) where you provide personal care and body art services.

How to register

Apply online

Step 1.Do your research

Make sure you are familiar with the background information and requirements of operating an accommodation premises.

Before submitting your application, you must have already determined:

  • That registration is required (some accommodation businesses are exempt)
  • How you will meet the public health requirements

Step 2.Gather supporting documents

Your application will need to include:

  • A floorplan of the business, showing all equipment and sink locations

Step 3.Download the application form

Step 4.Email the form to us

Email your completed application form to nillumbik@nillumbik.vic.gov.au, attention to Environmental Health.

Step 5.Receive a receipt email from us

After you submit your application by email, a member of the Environmental Health team will send you a receipt email. This email will contain a payment reference number.

Step 6.Pay the application fee

You can view the schedule of fees and charges under the 'Fees' tab.

Step 2.Pay the application fee

Pay with cash, cheque, money order, EFTPOS, Mastercard or Visa. Please note we do not accept Diners Club and American Express

Step 1.Prepare a cheque or money order

Payable to "Nillumbik Shire Council" and crossed "Not Negotiable".

What happens next?

After you submit your application:

Council assesses your application

After your application is received and the application fee has been paid, an Environmental Health Officer will review the submitted documents.

Risk assessment

An Environmental Health Officer will contact you to arrange an appointment to meet onsite and conduct a risk assessment. A report will then be issued listing any non-conformances.

Final inspection

After any non-conformances have been attended to, an Environmental Health Officer will attend to conduct a final inspection.

Certificate of Registration

Following the final inspection, a Certificate of Registration will be issued.
