Nillumbik suffered greatly as a result of the February 7 bushfires. We lost 41 people and hundreds of properties were destroyed. Rebuilding and recovering from this is an ongoing process and we will continue to do our best to support our fire-affected communities.
With a hot summer on its way we all need to work together to reduce the level of risk we face. Everyone has to play their part, from State Government, CFA, Nillumbik Shire Council and you.
As we head towards the summer we all need to think about the level of bushfire risk we face and take steps to minimise that risk. The best way to do this is to make educated and informed decisions about how best to prepare yourself, your family and your property for summer.
There is a lot of information and advice being distributed about preparing for summer we hope you find these pages useful. Here you will find details on what you can do with the new 10/30 exemption and we wanted to let you know what Nillumbik Shire Council is doing amongst other things.
Let’s protect our families, our friends and our beautiful Shire to the best of our abilities.
