The books presented in this exhibition illustrate the students’ own stories, or explore a text, poem, the environment, political issues or personal histories.

 Haydn's The Creation - Diamond Valley Singers Oratorio 2009

2009 marks the 200th anniversary of Haydn's death. A cornerstone of the Classical Period, Haydn’s contributions to the world of classical music include concertos, masses, symphonies, choral works, and operas.
The Creation (German: Die Schöpfung) is an oratorio written between 1796 and 1798 by Joseph Haydn and is considered by many to be his masterpiece. The oratorio depicts and celebrates the creation of the world as described in the biblical Book of Genesis.
Performances will be sung in English

 Hurstbridge Farmers' Market

The Hurstbridge Farmers Market features fresh food from local farmers and producers in Nillumbik and surrounding regions, including the Yarra Valley and Murrindindi. Over 30 stalls offer produce including local honey, eggs, olives, wine, free range meats, seasonal fruit and vegetables, bread and baked goods and more.

The market is an all weather event and is held on the first Sunday of every month, from 8.30am to 1pm, with the exception of January and Total Fire Ban days.

Entry fee $2: proceeds to local CFA brigades.

Sally Morrison is the author of a collection of short stories and four novels, including the Banjo Award-winning, Mad Meg. After Fire – a life of Clifton Pugh is her first biography. A comprehensive biography, eight years in the making, it is based on Sally’s personal friendship with Clifton, interviews with his family and friends, and research into his papers at the National Library of Australia.

 Eltham World Harmonies - Bec Matthews

As a singer, composer and instrumentalist, Bec is a classically trained musician and singer with a passion for West African music and culture. With a focus on the Kora (twenty-one string African harp) she studied under several master players in The Gambia, Senegal and Mali and the Kamelngoni (hunters harp) under Bamako based master Adama Sidube. Bec also plays trumpet and assorted percussion. Her solo performance features a variety of West African string instruments and songs inspired by her travels around Australia and the world. Having played on many occasions with a previous band, before the President of Gambia, we now bring her to Eltham World Harmonies!
